The Director of DevOps, Solution Engineering, and Database Architecture is responsible for shaping the strategy and execution of enterprise infrastructure delivery. This role ensures that systems are designed, built, and operated to meet the organizations needs for scalability, security, and performance.

The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, and database solutions, with a proven track record of guiding teams through Cloud adoption, platform modernization, and large-scale system migrations. Strong technical depth, combined with the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams, is essential to ensure infrastructure strategies align with organizational goals and deliver measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for infrastructure engineering, DevOps, and database architecture functions.
  • Establish and maintain architecture standards and best practices for infrastructure delivery.
  • Provide direct technical guidance on architecture decisions, with emphasis on Cloud-native, PaaS, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies that align with enterprise goals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and infrastructure technologies, advising both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment through infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
  • Partner with development, operations, and security teams to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks in software and infrastructure delivery.
  • Provide hands-on expertise in database architecture, including schema design, tuning, and capacity planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a technical discipline; Masters preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive information systems management experience preferably in a health care field.
  • Strongly Preferred: 10+ years of proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role, 5+ years of experience leading teams
  • Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications across major providers

General Skills And Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) with a focus on Cloud-native and PaaS solutions.
  • Strong leadership experience guiding cross-functional engineering teams and large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of setting up and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and integrating automation to improve deployment cycles.
  • Proficiency in tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) efficiently and reliably.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise databases, including performance tuning, scalability, and governance (Epic Cogito/Clarity/Caboodle experience is a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and business stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of Cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with containerization technologies and microservices architecture.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing Cloud security measures, managing identity and access, and ensuring compliance with standards
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $143,858.00 - $239,662.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
